This was what I bought for my nephew (the boy who has everything! He loved it and kept wanting to buy more butterflies after the last ones hatched. Definitely a creative gift to buy for a child.
i have used this net a lot of different times with all different types of butterflys. and we have hatched so many of them we never had a butterfly not make it. the only downfall is when you put the sugar towel in the bottom to let the butterflys eat make sure you put it in a bowl or plate because the sugar water will leak on the floor or counter. MY dog even liked watching the butterflys fly around in it.
I bought this for my kids and they loved it! We've since found live caterpillars and watched them turn into butterflies using this same habitat along with some food and twigs from the trees the caterpillars were on when we found them. It's fascinating to watch.
This was another Christmas purchase but we had to wait awhile before we could use it because it was too cold out. My daughter was fascinated with this thing. We went to the Insect Lore Website to order a second batch (if you will) of caterpillars. Everything was pretty much as you would expect. We kept the cocoons out of direct sunlight and the hatched right on time as per the instructions. Feeding was easy and the coolest part was that when we set them free some of them came back. My daughter cried when we had to let them go and that was a little sad but you should have seen her face when they came back "to visit." Priceless...
