How to Raise Monarch Butterflies

If you have a hankering to raise your own Monarch Butterflies, it can be one of the most rewarding experiences you'll ever have. Monarchs are beautiful butterflies - regal and brilliant - and they make a perfect addition to butterfly gardens.

Unlike many other species of butterfly, which can only be raised with a kit, you can actually venture out into the field for your own Monarch Butterfly eggs. So long as you know what you are looking for - and have a bit of luck - you can do the whole process from start to finish in your own home.

Female Monarchs most often lay their eggs beneath the petals of Milkweed plants. They look like tiny little pearls almost. In the wild, they will spread their eggs from plant to plant, in an effort to ensure that many of them will make it to maturity.

Take the whole plant if you can. Milkweed is fairly easy to remove from the ground. Place the stem in water and keep the whole thing in an enclosed container. You want to be sure there is plenty of moisture available, so keep a damp cloth inside as well.

Once the eggs hatch, the pupae emerge - the caterpillars - and you'll notice that they are quite hungry. These are essentially eating machines. Be sure that they have fresh milkweed leaves available - either from the original plant or others that you supplement.

Soon, the caterpillar will ascend to the top of the cage, attach it self with a thread of silk, and disappear into a cocoon. Take a moment to appreciate the lovely jade color! And then just sit back and wait. The butterflies are not likely to emerge for at least ten days and perhaps as many as fourteen.

Once they do come out, be sure that you give them plenty of time to inflate their wings. Allow at least eight hours and as many as twenty-four. The new butterfly is actually okay without food for this period, but after that it will need to eat.

You can handle the young Monarchs. Let them crawl over your hand. Carry them outside to your garden and let them leave your hand for a nice butterfly bush. Once the sun fully warms them, they will take to the air. But you can count on them as regular visitors, so long as you have a garden with plenty of colorful flowers.

Butterfly World - The Largest Butterfly Park in Africa

Butterfly world is a 1000m2 covered garden containing one of the largest live butterfly displays on the world located in Cape Town South Africa. Butterflies from at least three continents are represented during any season of the year which is great as you can visit any time of the year and see the same beautiful.

Butterflies fly around freely and openly in the garden whilst visitors view them going about their daily lives as per usual.
These butterflies are used to human movement and are not in any way perturbed by our presence. The beautifully landscaped garden with its many benches, water features and exotic plants has numerous paths and visitors may wonder around at their leisure.

A small extension of the green house displays the carious components of the butterfly's life cycle. Here one can view eggs, caterpillars, and pupae and if you are lucky you could even witness an emerging butterfly. They also have a butterfly named "the flame butterfly" which is fascinating species as it will only lay its eggs on the leaves of a passion flower.

Work sheets are also available for children and these deals with topics such as the life cycle of butterflies, butterfly habits, survival and the metamorphosis. Children are encouraged to color in pictures and search for the answers to the questions on the worksheet by close investigation in the garden.

At Certain times of the year, additional information is given on temporary live displays of spiders and insects, as they become available.

Photographing Butterflies

Photographing butterflies requires patience while waiting for that right opportunity to come along; have your camera ready to go, kick back and enjoy the beautiful flowers until it does. Having your own flower garden to attract butterflies is the best place, in my opinion, to capture your pictures. It's convenient, away from crowds and, I believe, butterflies feel at ease with your presence after a short time when they know you mean no harm thus allowing you to stand just inches away from them. Nature parks are also places to get good shots of butterflies and so are butterfly gardens which usually have a large variety of species from around the world.

The only equipment I use is a digital camera. The two most important features of a camera for photographing a butterfly, your subject, is a high optical zoom (don't confuse this with digital zoom - in my opinion, digital zoom produces a poor quality picture) and macro mode (with macro mode you can focus in clearly with your lense just inches away from your subject). Both features allow you to close in on your subject sharply and will blur the background, eliminating distractions, thus drawing one's attention to the butterfly's eye-catching designs and colors.

When photographing butterflies, be creative and bring your pictures to life. Use different angles. Shoot from the front, sides and back of your subject. Shoot at eye level or try an upward shot. Catch the butterflies in different poses. Shoot when they are in flight or flapping their wings. Experiment. If your camera offers manual controls, use a slow shutter speed to blur the movement and a fast shutter speed to freeze it. If you can't adjust your shutter speed, the more light in your picture the faster your speed will be. If the opportunity allows, look at your subject and background closely through the view finder before clicking. Sometimes just moving your lens a tad bit will make a big difference in how your picture turns out.

Lighting is another way of bringing your pictures to life. The best time of the day to shoot is when the sun is not harsh, such as in the early morning and in the evening but don't let this stop you from shooting on a sunny afternoon though. Try taking a picture with the sun behind your subject. This will give a wonderful silhouette look to your picture. Flashes can have a benefit or two, but I don't use one. I feel nature's light is the best!

Practice makes perfect. Take a lot of pictures. More than half of mine are deleted (great thing about digital cameras). When you spot a butterfly in the distance, I suggest taking a picture where you are, step a little closer (slowly and quietly), take another picture and so on until you get that perfect close-up or the butterfly flies away. A lot of times the first picture you take may be good enough to crop. It won't be a large size but it will always be a memory to hold onto.

Animals that Do Not Make Good Pets

As humans, many of us have an affinity for animals. We seek companions in pets, but there are quite a number of animals that do not make good pets. Some of them are obvious, like very poisonous spiders and snakes, but some are not quite so obvious. Below are just a few of the animals that should not be kept as pets:

Scorpions - These animals do not require a great amount of care, but are not an ideal pet. Handling a scorpion is not a good idea - Besides the risk of its sting, scorpions become very stressed when handled, a health risk to the creature itself.

Deer - In many areas, it is illegal to keep deer captive, as pets or otherwise, and for good reason. Deer may carry CWD (Chronic Wasting Disease) and the risk of spreading it increases drastically within a herd of captive deer. Captive deer may also spread disease to their human hosts.

Snapping turtles - These turtles require a very large tank of water as they grow to very large sizes, up to 60 pounds! They can also be aggressive, so they definitely don't make good pets for children. Great care and consideration must be taken before making the decision to own a snapping turtle as a pet.

Chimpanzees - These animals may seem irresistible as a cute and cuddly companion, but they are not an ideal pet! Chimpanzees grow quite fast and by the time they are five years old, they are stronger than most human adults. They can become destructive and will bite. These animals were meant to live in the wild and not as domesticated pets. Zoos generally refuse to accept pet chimpanzees because they usually do not fit into established chimp groups in a zoo environment. Most often, the animals end up in medical research laboratories.

Bats - Bats are protected by laws against owning them as pets, and in most areas, it is illegal to keep them captive, for very good reason. It is extremely harmful to the animal to be kept as a pet. In the wild, bats live over 25 years, yet in captivity as a pet, they rarely survive more than a year. To keep a bat in captivity, a person must be USDA licensed and have the necessary permits.

Just a few other animals that don't make good pets: crocodiles, wolves, coyotes, lions, tigers, ocelots, foxes, kangaroos, raccoons, skunks, squirrels, and bears.

It is generally in the best interest for you and your pet if you do a bit of research before you decide on which animal would make the best companion for you. There are plenty of "exotic" animals that do make good pets, as well as plenty that do not.

Success - A Champion Spreads His or Her Wings Through Adversity

A very kind man once found a cocoon of a butterfly. The man was fascinated with the miracle of nature so he decided to study the cocoon. One day, a small opening appeared on the cocoon. The time had finally arrived. It was time for the birth of a beautiful butterfly.

For several hours, the butterfly struggled to force its way through the hole in the cocoon.   Finally, with not much success to show for itself, the butterfly appeared to quit trying.

Being a kind soul, the man took a pair scissors and began cutting away the cocoon to free the troubled butterfly.   Before long, the butterfly was free, or was it? The butterfly's little body was swollen and ugly. Its' wings were small, wrinkly, and weak. What was wrong with this butterfly? Was it deformed? Was it sick? Would it get better?

The sad truth is that the butterfly was destined to a life on the ground. In his attempt to help, the kind man actually unknowingly hurt the butterfly. The man did not understand that the butterfly's adversity busting through the cocoon is God's way of making it beautiful and successful. When a butterfly pushes against a cocoon, the struggle actually pushes fluid from its' body to its' wings to make them strong, powerful, and beautiful. Once free from its' prison, it can immediately take flight to freedom. But not this butterfly. Without the struggle, it will never take flight.

We are much like the butterfly. The struggles in our lives make us strong, wise, beautiful, and successful.  So, the next time you get hit by adversity, then celebrate because your wings are beginning to grow. Before long, you will be soaring with not only the butterflies but also with the eagles.

The research has been done for you. Information has been taken from two of the major toy websites and here is a list of what kids want for Christmas 2009.

Because the top toys seem to shift back and forth in the top 10 places, these bestsellers are in no particular order.

1. Zhu Zhu Hamsters dominate the bestselling lists this year. In fact, they are already hard to find and are being sold at very high prices by resellers. The price is expected to continue to rise as last-minute shoppers desperately try to get one for their child. Zhu Zhu Hamsters are toy hamsters that move around and react to your child's touch. They come with several accessories to make playtime more fun. There are four major hamsters and they all go up an down in the top 10. Pipsqueak seems to stay closest to the top. The Zhu Zhu Funhouse also has a nearly permanent spot in the top 10 toys overall.

How to Grow a Butterfly Garden

Do you love the sight of blooming flowers with beautiful butterflies fluttering around them? Plant a butterfly garden! With a little knowledge and a nice area to plant it is really very simple to plant a butterfly garden or just turn your existing flower gardens into beautiful butterfly gardens.

To attract butterflies, you will need to keep a few things in mind. Butterflies need sunshine to keep warm, and most of the flowers they like best need sunshine, too. Make sure that you select a sunny location (preferably in a wind protected area) for your garden. For best results, plant the tallest flowers behind the shorter ones--so you'll be able to see all the flowers and butterflies that appear in your garden. Adding rocks and bricks for the butterflies to bask in the sun will keep the butterflies close to your yard. Rocks are convenient perches for butterflies to sun themselves and are also a very decorative addition to your garden. They also need still water on the ground - a birdbath or even a jar lid will work for that.

Adult butterflies are attracted to sweet, sharp and fragrant smells and the colors orange, yellow, pink, purple and red. A variety of blossoms offer nectar to adult butterflies, while leafy food sources, such as parsley or bronze fennel, nourish the larvae.

When selecting your plants, choose a variety of plants so there will be flowers blooming at all times during the summer. If you plant only one type flower and they bloom and die, the butterflies will leave. Here are some of the plants that butterflies are the most attracted to: Daylily, Iris, Lavender, Milkweed, Petunia, Phlox, Asters, Butterfly bush, Heliotrope, Cosmos, Clover, Zinnia. Some other plants that I've found that they like in my garden are Purple Gayfeather and Bee Balm. Not only do the butterflies love them, but hummingbirds are attracted to them also.

Butterflies also love it when you put out rotting fruit, such as watermelon. If you have a problem with ants you may not want to do this, but it really does attract the butterflies. Another thing they seem to love is to have a water mister out during very hot days. They love to fly through the water and the birds love it too!

It's important to remember to refrain from the use off chemical insecticides, which will kill the butterflies you attract.

Remember, the general requirements for butterfly gardening are: sunny, preferably a wind protected area, some water, nectar source plants, larval host plants, & a pesticide-free environment. Once you have planted your butterfly garden, sit back and enjoy it for years to come.

Gardening to Magnetize Them Stunning Butterflies Into Your Backyard

Make your garden butterfly-friendly to draw color and development to the landscaping while aiding the pollination of flowers, fruit, and vegetable plants. Regrettably that urbanization and other development are shrinking butterflies' natural surroundings, leaving less places to feed, mate, and lay eggs. Listed here are some ideas to turn around that trend. Butterfly gardens do not have to be big. It is easy to grow plants in containers on the patio as well as in hanging baskets and window containers.

Butterflies require the sun to maintain the body temperature up, so position your garden within the sunniest location achievable. The key to attracting butterflies is to provide them with numerous nectar sources; they also prefer to take advantage of open, tube-shape flowers.

All butterflies start out as caterpillars that need host plants to feed on. Many of these are native plants-weeds and wildflowers that could be growing on or near your house. Some good choices of plants include clovers, milkweeds, and violets. After a rain session, you may see butterflies congregating around a puddle or a damp area in the garden to drink and extract minerals from the soil. Keeping a puddle in exactly the same spot will keep butterflies coming back.

Butterfly gardening is becoming big business. Butterfly farms offer live butterflies for you to release at special functions like weddings. Installment services think it's a good suggestion, filling the air with butterflies might just lessen a few inside the stomach belonging to the bride and groom. It is obvious to us that butterflies and flowers were made for each other. As the poet once identified, butterflies are flying flowers, and flowers are like tethered butterflies.

At the same time as getting butterflies into your garden, it is important to know what they need most out of life. That is nectar. A butterfly's wish list also includes sunny open spaces, shelter from the wind, and fresh water. For a nectar-rich flower border designed to satisfy these requirements, consider the plants listed below. Then invite a few butterflies over for a drink.

Fitting new had a new baby delivered to us today. It is cream-colored with a black head. It is called is Cynthia, commonly often called a painted lady butterfly larva, or caterpillar. It's scientific name is Cynthia Cardui, also known as Vanessa Cardui. Painted lady butterflies are found all through much of North America. The larvae and adults favor thistles, members of the Aster family, and many other plants. They are often seen in meadows and other open areas.

Up-to-the-minute gas boilers in chelsea and all over ordered our Cynthia from a place that raises butterflies. It is possible to order online butterfly kits containing caterpillars, it's also possible to get kits from most nature stores that include instructions as to where to send away for the particular caterpillar. Cynthia came in a vial that contains all the meals that it needs as a caterpillar. During this time, it will move through several molts, growing larger each time. After a couple of weeks of growing and molting sessions it will become a chrysalis, or pupa. It will now remain in that stage for a week or two and then hatch into an adult butterfly. So come on all you potential gardeners, let us all do our bit for the butterfly. You may even amaze yourselves at how fine the garden seems to be.

I have always had the properties that I own looked after by the identical gardener london company and through the years they've saved me a lot of cash, a large amount of the times it was merely by providing me with very practical advise.

What Love Is

Words like butterflies from your breath
As you speak to tell me I'll be alright.
I may be far from perfect, but that is put aside
And I know I can make it through another night.

The light from your eyes reflects the stars
And lets me know that I'm just fine.
I know that though I have my faults
I can still hold and call you mine.

When I look at you it's crystal clear
That you are meant to grow
Above all of the others here
That believe they know.

Your eyes of blue and green
Look off to a world that is, to me, unseen.
You are meant for greater things
Than where for now you seem to be.

I hope I can walk beside you
Through your life's destiny
But if later on you must move on
Please just don't forget me.

I hope I don't have to just remember
You breath, your eyes, you lips, you light
And I hope that I can always hear
Your words of security through the night.

Anna Bell

I may be only 15 years old, I also may be wrong, but I think I have been in love and I know what love is. I have experienced that tingling feeling and the butterflies in your stomach and I have been completely 'obsessed' with my 'boyfriend' and I may have said I was 'in love', but I realize I wasn't.

Last year, in August, I started my first day in 9th grade. My parents were sending me to a charter school that I had never heard of before. I saw it as almost a punishment for my horrible behavior in my public school. The year prior to that, I had straight F's on my report card, countless "sluff's" and skipped detentions, horrible friends and influences, and teachers I absolutely terrorized. I didn't care about school, what happened to me, what my parents wanted or thought, or anything.

Now, in August 2009, I had to deal with social outcasts from private schools and uniforms for my first high school year. As I made my way through the first month of school, I suffered severe depression, loneliness, and family problems. I honestly didn't know if I even wanted to live. I had just gotten out of my dad's home and was living with my mom who had just gotten a new job as the head counselor at a middle school. I felt nobody understood me. Everyone at my school seemed to have the picture perfect life with no problems, and rich parents. All the other kids were simply unreachable and/or under the influence of some kind of drug. I made a few new friends and found I had many in my new neighborhood. There was one, in particular, who stood out to me. His name was Max. I had had a few good talks about deep discussions and we really seemed to click. September 8th, my best friend since 3rd grade's birthday, we were 'official'. We dated for four months and were attached by the hip. We got to know each other very well and it turned out we had very similar lives. We both had a hard time with family and both suffered from depression. It seemed everything was perfect. That was until late November, when I noticed he wasn't acting himself anymore. He wasn't treating me the same anymore and something wasn't right.

On December 10th, I felt the ground below my feet pulled from under me once again. I found out he was addicted to narcotics. We broke up and for the next four months we rarely talked as he tried to pull himself out. He quit cold turkey and for a little while I watched him run out of the class to vomit or noticed his absence from school. He wasn't himself at all. Time went by and we still didn't speak much. Spring break came and we started to hang out a little more, and on April 8th, 2010, I admitted to him that I missed him. We kept it a secret that we were together for about a month. Through that time we have gotten even closer than before. We have a list of things to do this summer, and through time, and we talk about everything.

Yesterday, after going to lunch with my dad, I went to see my counselor and I admitted I was suicidal. I had taken a test that with each answer gave me points, and when I gave the total to my counselor, he told me that most people like me would be in the hospital. My number was 114, and he informed me that the number where they begin to worry was 63. After leaving my session, I had a talk with my dad that seemed to stress me out even more. Max was waiting inside my house for me to get home, and when I walked inside I could feel the tears trying to escape my eyes. I dropped all of my things on the floor in my room, trying to appear ok, when I finally broke down. He held me close and let me cry and talked to me about what was going on. He told me I needed to start taking antidepressants and that he would walk with me through everything. He talked to my mom for me about what he felt I needed to do and eventually had to leave for home. I might be 15, but I think that this is real. It may not last forever, and he might not be 'the one' when I'm thirty, but that doesn't mean it isn't love

I think love is when you know that no matter where you are, what you do, or how you feel, they will always be there. Love is when you can be a total mess and feel comfortable. Love is when you can wear no makeup and not feel embarrassed. Love is when you can lie there in their arms for hours and never get bored. Love is when you want to enjoy all the greatest things in life and everything you think with that person. Love is when you know you can be completely stupid and you will still hear them tell you they love you at the end of the day. Love is when you miss them while you dream, and you can't wait for the moment when you wake up and you can see them again.

Stress Management and Mastery: Breakdown or Breakthrough?

Q: "My career, though very very stressful, is one that I thoroughly enjoy and do not want to change. Because I'm under so much stress, my counselor has recommended that I eliminate all stress from my life. This doesn't seem to make sense to me, especially since I like what I do so much. Should I quit my job, or is there something else I can do?"

I think your counselor is wrong. I'm sure they mean well, they just don't understand some key distinctions about stress.

The reason for that rather bold statement is that unless you are in imminent danger of a heart attack, stroke or some other equally severe catastrophe, there is no reason to eliminate all the stress from your life. The only people I know who are completely stress free can be found a few blocks down the street from my office - in the cemetery!

Not only is it not really possible to eliminate all the stress from your life, it's not very healthy as well.

What!?! are you saying stress can be healthy?!

Well, in a word, yes.

Before you think I'm completely nuts, consider what some scientists have found. Who knows where they get these ideas, but apparently some researchers found a way for a butterfly to get out of a cocoon without having to struggle. Here's the interesting part for our approach to stress. As they further studied the butterflies, they found that the ones that did not have to struggle out of their cocoons were not as healthy, not as brightly colored, and did not live as long as the butterflies that had to go through some struggles.

The meaning for us is clear: the right amount of struggle and stress can be a good thing.

When it comes to successfully dealing with stress and struggle, you can have only one of two results: a breakdown or a breakthrough. Let's take a closer look at each of these two options.

How to Have a Breakdown

Obsess on the stress in your life. Think about nothing else.

Even though you are the only invited guest, have a continuing "pity party."

Talk constantly about the stress you feel, especially to those that agree completely with you.

Get little or no exercise. After all, with all this stress, you just don't have time.

Ask lousy questions, such as "Why does this always happen to me?", "Why don't other people have as much stress as me?", etc. etc.

Take a "dead roach approach." You know, flat on your back, just letting the stress happen to you.

Follow these directions: Say to yourself "I have to do this, I have to do this, I have to do this." Rinse. Repeat.

Cut down on your sleep and rest. Remember, you just don't have time.

Focus on everything that is wrong in your life.

Put off all enjoyment until the stress has passed. Remember, you don't have time.

Pray that life gets easier.

Isolate yourself. Believe you have to do it all your self.

Carry the burden alone.

Believe you have absolutely no choice in the matter.

How to Have a Breakthrough.>

How to Plant a Butterfly Bush

Let's say you want a thriving live butterfly garden, and you are wondering what type of flower or shrub is going to get you off on the best foot? While there are many different candidates, one you should absolutely consider is the butterfly bush. As its name indicates, it is intrinsically related to the attraction of butterflies.

Does this mean that you shouldn't consider other plants? No, you should. But if you compare the various options in terms of how attractive they are to butterflies, and how easy they are to plant and keep alive, the butterfly bush is almost always hands down the winner.

If you are not an experienced gardener, these bushes can be a bit intimidating to get started with. This can be especially true if you are dealing with a fairly small area and you need to make every plant, flower and shrub count.

Start by tilling the area where the bushes are going to go. Add some lime and add some compost, too. If you have natural compost available, use that. If not, consider picking some up from the local garden supply store. If there is a touch-and-go moment with butterfly bushes, it is at the beginning of their lives. It behooves you to get them started with lots of nutrients.

After you have planted them, be sure to give them plenty of water. After a few weeks, your bush should be doing just fine.

Avoid the temptation to buy many different varieties of the butterfly bush. You can get them in many different colors. But remember that butterflies are attracted to your garden because of colors that are bunched together. Don't get three different bushes of different colors. That will confuse the winged visitors you want to attract.

The only real challenge to growing a butterfly bush is that they have a tendency to proliferate. In other words, you will see a lot of them shooting up in the vicinity of the original plant. Trim these so that you don't have too many of them.

Successful butterfly gardeners look at their gardens from the perspective of butterflies. How will it work for them? Will it offer them shelter? Nutrients? A place to eat and breed? If you can answer yes to those questions then your butterfly garden is off to a fine start.

And butterfly bushes are a great way to ensure that your garden will be highly desirable to butterflies. You'll get other visitors too - hummingbirds, for example. Bees of course. But a thriving butterfly bush or two should almost guarantee you several species of garden before the season is out.

Lower Back Tattoos of Butterflies Are Popular With Women

Lower back tattoos of butterflies have proved to be simply superb. Some of the prettiest feminine tattoo designs are lower back tattoos for women of butterflies. Quite simply, a tattoo designs with superb colors and beautiful designs is going to be stunning no matter what. There are free tattoo designs on the net, which are good for getting ideas, just be aware these free designs are low quality, and a lot of people have already used this tattoo art, they have no uniqueness to them.

The lower back can accommodate tattoo designs of different types and look very attractive. Pictures of lower back flower butterfly tattoos can be found in any tattoo art studio or more easily on the the internet. Among the best things on the lower back tattoos of butterflies is that they have the ability to add aesthetically much more color in your tattoo, but the volume is sometimes related to the color tattoo designs. Lower back tattoos for women of butterflies are especially nice because they're symmetrical by default, are usually positioned left-to-right, and are popular because the insect has so many beautiful colors. Butterfly patterns are easy to create as tattoo art on the body because everyone is familiar with the basic shape, the oblong middle body with wings on.

A butterfly begins life as a caterpillar. It then vanishes into a cocoon, transforms, and emerges as a beautiful butterfly. Therefore a butterfly signifies change and evolution, and so this makes up a fashionable tattoo design for people who would like to mark a phase in their lives where they've evolved, or experienced some individual change. The lower back tattoos of butterflies would be some of the most stunning and most beautiful tattoos I have observed along with the lower back flower butterfly tattoos, the designs are endless and the array of colors can be limitless.

Whales, Mushrooms and Butterflies! California's Nature Fests

The quiet and serene forests, lakes and oceans of California provide for wonderful Nature Reserves, and with these reserves come opportunities to enjoy a wide variety of festivals that focus on the animals that live there. No matter your area or favorite month, there is sure to be a Nature Festival that suits you and your family and friends. Start your year off the right way with the Annual Camp Mushroom at the Sea Ranch Lodge. Here, you can look for, collect and tag different species of wild and exotic mushrooms all along the Sonoma Coast with the touted Mushroom Expert, Charmoon Richardson. Prefer things a little less fungi like?

Try the Whale Watch Weekend and Inter Tidal Life Festival. Held in San Diego, you meet with other whale watchers at Point Cabrillo National Monument to enjoy a whole day, if you wish, watching the whales migrate during the winter months. Out on the Redwood Coast in the month of April, you can enjoy a festival featuring whales and jazz at the Redwood Coast Whale and Jazz Festival in Gualala. The festival opens on a Thursday night with poetry and jazz followed by dinner and jazz on Friday. There are a lot of activities on Saturday including the Chowder Challenge and Tasting plus more Jazz followed by a whale film then the main event which is a huge jazz concert for your listening pleasure. Be sure to stop by Santa Cruz in November to see the Tours of the Monarch Butterfly Grove.

Rustic Living Room Furniture

The contemporary look is highlighted by rustic furniture. Individuals who treasure the rough, unfinished country look are always on the look out for rustic furniture. The pine log cabins are a perfect example of this. It is a very popular form of living room furniture as it is not very expensive and available aplenty. Many homes have living room furniture pieces that are hand carved from wooden logs.

Furniture such as chairs, bureau, center tables and sofas are expertly crafted with detailed exquisiteness that in spite of the simple materials used it becomes a masterpiece. Rustic furniture is cherished for its combination of form and function.

Present day rustic furniture may keep to the themes of building techniques of the past or could combine them with contemporary styling. The buyer can opt for very simple, hand made rustic furniture pieces or could use rustic designs on modern furniture. Another great alternative is that, when choosing rustic furniture for living room themes, the entire room need not be committed to a rustic look. By adding a few pieces here and there, the entire living room can attain a rustic look. Since the rustic look uses the beauty of wood, mirrors, bookcases, and tables can be highlighted with this rustic charm. This can be achieved quite simply by incorporating various inexpensive accessories, such as flowers and twigs.

The rustic look is a perfect choice when opting to decorate a living room that opens out into a patio or lanai. Irrespective of the rustic furniture piece chosen, the look and grace of the newly decorated living room will definitely be the talk of the town. Rustic log furniture is a treasure for the future generations. The magic of wood will definitely bring a sense of warmth, coziness and comfort to the home.

Turning Into a Butterfly

I watch people as I help them become the type of people they want to be and the biggest thing I see is people's need to cling to who they are right now. This is so much crap that it makes me want to reach out and choke people at times. We look at at the world and see successful people and believe that they have always been the person they are right now. Or we take a look at something and believe that we don't stand a chance of being that also. This stinks so bad I can barely stay in the same room when I hear it coming out of someone's mouth. We need to banish this way of thinking if we are to ever move beyond where we are and attract and accomplish what we want and get to where we want to be.

We may look at a butterfly and think of how beautiful a butterfly is. We may think that a butterfly is just as beautiful before it emerges from it's cocoon as well. This could not be further from the truth. We never realize how much a worm or caterpillar must go through in order to become a butterfly and how much of a change there is in the process. The same is true for us. In order for us to live the life of our dreams, we must become the kind of person who lives that life. We stand no chance at all of having that life the way we are right now. If we did, we would already have that life.

We must be willing to go into our own cocoon of change and allows ourselves to transform into the type of person that we need to be. Of course, this won't happen over night. It takes time and constant effort to make that change. It takes learning and growth to become the kind of person you need to be in order to live the kind of life you long to live. No man in history has ever created the life of his dreams without first going through the process of becoming the kind of man it takes to live that life. There is no magic wand that you can wave and make that life a reality. There is no magic solution to creating that life. The only solution is to put the time and energy into your life that it takes to create the life of your dreams.

So get over it and start making some changes. Begin moving toward the person you need to be in order to get the things you want and in order to live the life you long to live. Stop making excuses for why you can't, or what you would have done if, or the million other excuses people use as reasons. There are always very few reasons for why something can't be done but a million excuses. The question is whether or not you truly want what you want or not. If you do, break outside of your comfort zones and start building that cocoon. If you don't, then that is ok too. Just keep doing what you are doing. Neither is right or wrong, but as you make it so and believe it to be.

Most Beautiful Creatures - Live Butterflies

Butterflies are one of the most beautiful creatures on the earth, owing to their colours and fragility. They can be found in almost all parts of the world and there are over 20,000 species world wide. Many of them are on the verge of extinction. To save them, a lot of initiatives are being taken. The people involved in the sale of butterfly arts and live butterflies do not target the endangered butterflies. Instead, they raise the common ones on butterfly farms and zoos for the purposes of selling, framing, and for other purposes.

Butterflies can be bought from these farms or from online stores to leave in your garden, for a life cycle science project for your kids, live butterfly release events, for framing and for other art works. Butterfly releases are popular during weddings but now some people have started doing it at funerals as well. They free out the butterflies near the graveyard. This will be a soothing sight for the eyes as the butterflies flutter one behind the other into the blue sky. When purchasing live butterflies, special care is taken in the transportation and packaging. They are kept in cool, dark boxes, so that the butterflies remain calm during the transportation process. Once you receive the package, you can keep it out in direct sunlight for an hour. By then the butterflies will become active and you can open and take them out.

For live release of butterflies, the mostly preferred variety is the monarch butterfly. The occasion can be marriage, funeral, or even a fun party. You can order your butterflies from any of the live butterfly suppliers. Check on the reputation and credibility of the supplier. Inexperienced suppliers may not take proper care of the packaging and this can result in the butterflies dying out during the transportation.

Most of the live butterfly suppliers have registered online sites. You can go through the types of butterflies available, the rates applicable, shipping charges, if any, and all other required details. Some suppliers may not ship the butterflies to far off places. You can lookup the services areas and locate the supplier close to you. Some suppliers have delivery service and they deliver your butterflies safely at your doorstep in time. You must mention the date and time the butterflies must be delivered to you so that the suppliers can start the packing on time.

So, live butterflies can be used during many events and for various activities. They can help your child learn science in an interesting manner, help make your wedding a spectacular and praiseworthy event, and even beautify your garden in no time. Choose the correct coloured butterfly matching your event and mood of the party.

There are a lot of web resources stating the contacts for supply of live butterflies. These are often addresses of the butterfly farm owners. You can contact them for your order.

If I Had 24 Hours To Live

A few years back, the ex-recording artist,
turned Pastor, turned recording artist again,
Mase, had a record out called "If I Had 24 hours to live..."

During the song, he, and a couple of other rappers,
stated what they would do if they had 24 hours to live.

For some reason, when I sat down to write this
newsletter, I thought of that song,
"If I Had 24 hours to live..."

What if you found out that you had 24 hours to live?

Think about it for a moment.

If you had 24 hours to live and knew for a
fact that you would be leaving this earth,
would you be happy with the life that you led?

Would you be able to say that you've made
the most of your life?

Would you look back on your life and say,
"I've lived the best life I could possibly live?"

Or would you think, "Wow, I have 24 hours to
live and I haven't even started to live yet?"

Would you happy that you were meeting God
so you can share with Him how you used the
gifts and talents He gave to you, or would
you feel ashamed because you never used your
talents in any way to serve His people.

Or would you think, "I haven't done nearly the
things that I know I am capable of doing. I
haven't accomplished the things that I have
always wished to accomplish."

My question to you is, "Why haven't you?
What's stopping you?"

We always have excuses as to why we haven't
accomplished the things that we have dreamed
of accomplishing, or doing the things that
we've hoped to do.

You've heard the stories of people on their
death bed wishing they had spent more time
with their families, or wishing they had
spent less time complaining and more time living,
or wishing they had accomplished more with their life.

Life is truly a gift. Yet, most of us treat
it as if it's nothing. We don't give life a
second thought until we are faced with the
reality of death. For some reason, we feel
that we have all the time in the world to get
around to doing the things that we have thought
of doing with our life, but before we know it,
we look up and its over.

I don't know about you, but I don't want to be
one of those folks on my death bed, thinking back
on the life I lived and regretting the fact that
I never took control of my life and started living.
I would hate to come to the realization that I
never really LIVED but merely existed for so
many years.

Most people simply drift through life,
never taking control or even knowing or
believing that they CAN take control of
their life. They simply let left push
them and pull them on through it until
one day they wake up, on their death bed,
knowing they have 24 hours to live and it
is at THAT point they decide that they
should have been more of this or did more
of that.

I beg you--Don't be one of those people.

Life is like everything else.

If you want it to be successful,
you have to PLAN your life. You have
to make a decision about what you want
to DO with your life. You have to see
yourself doing the things that you want
to do and you have to take action. Listen
to that voice that is inside of you--your spirit--
your direct link to God.

Learn how to control your life and make it
go exactly as you wish it to go.

You can do it, you know. And the great part
about it is you can start at any given second.
All it takes is for you to make the decision.
Then draw up a plan and take action.

If you learn to live EVERY day as if it were
your last, you will see the urgency that life
brings with it. You will feel the need to
urgently accomplish things every single day.

In 1 Corinthians 9:24 Paul says, Do you not know
that in a race all the runners run, but only one
gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.

So when the day comes and you discover that
you have 24 hours to live, you will simply
smile and relax and be happy about the fact
that you will be going home to meet God and
tell him how you used the gifts he had given
to you to serve others and in the process,
served yourself. You won't regret having 24
hours to live; in fact, you will welcome it
with open arms because you can't WAIT to share
the things that you have accomplished with
your life. You have run the race to get the prize.

ACTION POINT: Do you have a plan for your life?
Do you have a burning desire to do, be or have
something that will allow you to serve others
and make your life more meaningful? Have you
figured out your talents and gifts and a way
to use them in your life? If not, then this
is the assignment for you this week. DECIDE what
you want to do with your life. Draw up a plan.
Start with your outcome, your dream and work
your way backwards on how to accomplish that dream.
Ask God for assistant. He'll give it to you.
Remember, ask and you shall receive. I even offer
an ecourse called Ask and You Shall Receive.
It's free and you can get it by sending a blank
email to mailto:askandr-@sendfree.com.
